The addition is in line with the company’s aims to boost its eCommerce tools across the app.

Only select business profiles will be able to access the feature for now which is not so much a verification badge but more so an added reassurance for users that they are dealing with a verified business or brand.

It’s also a way for customers to instantly recognize what type of business they’re dealing with and drive more relevant audiences to listings.

eCommerce is a natural next step for TikTok as it extends its advertising options and boosts opportunities for creators to collaborate with brands across the app.

In-app shopping already is a major revenue arm for the Chinese version of the app Douyin including live-stream shopping and Shopify integration.
